At a lot of the shows we do, people will comment on the quality of our fabrics. This is really gratifying to me, because it's something we spend a lot of time and energy thinking about.
First, it has to be sustainably sourced. It's important to consider the origin and environmental impact of the fabrics you choose. Then, we feel it. It needs to have a nice texture, but also be soft. It needs to drape well. A lot of people assume that we use linen or wool, but most of our fabrics are a cotton/hemp blend. This keeps them from feeling too scratchy, wrinkling too easily, or being too warm to wear year-round. Finally, we look at color and pattern. Will it be versatile? Will it be easy to style with that favorite shirt? Will it add that extra touch of class without straying into penguin territory?
